The economic argument

This power point was presented to the National Park Service.

The primary point is that Hurricane Ridge attracts more people who spend more money than almost every other National Park winter access road.

Using the NPS's own MP3 model, visitor spending by the weekday visitors more than paid for the cost to clear the road.

The MP3 model does not account for other economic benefits, (as detailed here) such as attracting quality of life seekers, and recirculating local money that the NPS is proud to exploit in other contexts.

In addition, numerous federal, state, and local initiatives and studies argue for continued access to the Ridge.
